This a 1940 Ford coupe that is being built for a local customer, he wanted a car that Ford never actually built, what might be considered a 3 window 1940 Ford coupe. Like a 1940 Willys. Except 1940 Ford coupes had 5 windows. So in order to bring his idea to life, a lot of fabrication was in order. Starting with a 2 door sedan body, and a rough donor coupe body, the cowl was braced so the car would not collapse or self destruct during the process, then cut apart so six inches could be removed from the floor board, while at the same time a matching six inches was being removed from the frame. The the back half of the coupe donor body, the quarter panels, deck lid, and rear portion of the roof were mocked in place. Both door jambs above the belt line had to be Fabricated from scratch. As did the sheet metal filling the sail panels where the former quarter windows used to be located.
